Work Readiness Certificate Program

Berkshire Works Career Center

All of the region’s work-based-learning options, including high school internship and specialized programs, provide youth with structured work readiness training to ensure their basic skill proficiency upon their entrance into the workplace. For those in-school and out-of-school youth who have not participated in these programs have not been provided the opportunity to take advantage of the necessary work readiness training that is essential to their initial and lifelong occupational success. Conscious of this notion, Berkshire Works Career Center has established a Work Readiness Course for all Berkshire County youth ages 14-21. This is a seven (7) hour course divided into 2 sessions each month: a Session I and a Session II. Participants can make up a missed session in a subsequent month if it is not possible to attend both in any given month.
In addition to the emphasis on developing a career pathway, the coursework emphasizes general work readiness skills deemed most-important by the Berkshire business community. Upon completion of the course, youth will receive a Certificate that can serve to attest that they have taken the initiative to establish a solid foundation as a job seeker, intern, and/or employee while serving as a reassurance to employers regarding their newfound knowledge around basic skill proficiency and its importance.
